Where does Joan Tile & Remodeling work?
We are based in Shelby Township, Michigan and work mostly in Macomb and Oakland County — including Sterling Heights, Utica, Rochester Hills, Troy, Macomb Township and Royal Oak. Larger projects elsewhere in Michigan, and occasionally out of state, are considered on request.
How do I get a quote?
Call, text or WhatsApp (586) 420-5238 with a few photos of the space and a short description, or use the form on our contact page. We then visit to measure and give you a written quote.
Do you supply the tile, or do I buy it?
Either works. Many customers choose their own tile from a showroom; we can tell you how much to order, check it suits the space, and supply setting materials. Tell us which you prefer when you get in touch.
How long does a custom tile shower take?
It depends on the size and the tile, and on drying and curing time between stages. We give you a timeline with your quote.
Can you put slab or stone over my existing fireplace?
Usually, yes. Most of our fireplace walls are built over an existing surround. We check the wall is strong and flat enough for the weight, and work to the fireplace manufacturer’s clearances.
What’s the difference between slab and tile on a fireplace?
Slabs are large porcelain or stone panels — sometimes floor-to-ceiling — so the wall has few or no joints and the veining flows. Tile is smaller and has more grout lines but more pattern options. Slabs need a flatter wall and more careful handling.
Can you tile over my existing tile?
Sometimes, but rarely in a shower. Tiling over old tile adds height and hides whatever is wrong underneath. We look at the condition of what’s there and tell you honestly whether it should come out.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
It depends on how much is changing — layout, plumbing, and the tile chosen. We give you a realistic timeline with your quote.
Do you do commercial tile work?
Yes. Alongside homes we tile offices, labs and washrooms. Customers have included a new dental laboratory.
Are you licensed?
Yes, Joan Tile and Remodeling LLC is a licensed Michigan business.
How long have you been in business?
Anton Vorfaj, who owns and runs the company, has been setting tile for more than 15 years.
